How is Aubade different from a smart alarm?+
A typical smart alarm looks for light sleep inside a fixed window — and that's about it. Aubade adds the recovery dimension. It weighs how recovered you actually are, whether more sleep is likely to add meaningful value, and applies your specific rules (early-wake permissions, recovery targets, hard cutoffs). It's a wake decision engine, not just a window search.
What devices do I need?+
iPhone (iOS 17 or later) and Apple Watch (Series 6 or later recommended). At launch, Aubade is iOS-only. We're focused on doing one platform extraordinarily well first.
Does the recovery score replace WHOOP or Oura?+
No — and it's not trying to. Aubade reads what's available through Apple Health and Apple Watch to build a directionally useful, personal-baseline-aware recovery score. If you wear a WHOOP or Oura, you can keep using them. Aubade's job is the wake decision, which is the part those devices don't handle.
Is the wake reliable? What if I oversleep?+
Your latest-wake-time rule is treated as a hard cutoff. Aubade will wake you by that time regardless of sleep state. The wake escalates progressively — haptic, soft tone, gradual rise, and finally a full alarm — so by the cutoff, anything short of an emergency will have woken you. You can also set "Immediate" wake style on days where reliability matters more than gentleness.
Will it wake my partner?+
The early stages of the wake protocol use Apple Watch haptics and very low-volume tones — designed to wake only you. Full alarm sound only engages as a fallback. Many partners report this is significantly less disruptive than traditional alarms.
Is my sleep data private?+
Yes. Aubade reads sleep data through Apple Health with your explicit permission. Personal data is encrypted and used only to power your wake decisions and personal model. We don't sell data and don't share it with advertisers. Detailed privacy policy available before launch.
Is this a medical device?+
No. Aubade is a consumer wellness product. It does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any condition. If you have a sleep disorder or health concern, see a clinician.
When does it launch?+
Beta access rolls out to waitlist members in waves. Public launch follows. Waitlist members get founder pricing locked in for life.
What about Android?+
Not at launch. We're building Aubade around the Apple Watch's sensor stack and Apple Health's sleep data. Android support depends on platform parity and is on the roadmap — but the iOS experience has to be exceptional first.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Yes. Both plans are month-to-month with a 14-day free trial. Annual plans save 20% and can be canceled at the end of the billing period. No long-term commitment.
